Would most agree that john hume should not be voted the greatest R.T.E IRISH person
because of the misconception that mr hume donated all his £280.ooo noble prize money
to charity as stated by R.T.E presenter miriam o'callaghan, others have also said this, but neither hume nor durkin have tried to clear this matter up
i am led to believe that mr hume only donates the yearly interest of this money and not it all to charity, surly there is a discrepancy involved here- if some can lie about this importand point then there word means nothing,
it should be remember'd that miriam o'callaghan was opposed to the peace move when GERRY ADAMS held talks with john hume in the early 90s, a reporter is usually a few steps behind events but in this case miriam was years behind,
mark durkin sdlp mp complained to the R.T.E director general cathal Goan about a 1
hour time change to a programme promoting john hume but mark durkin as yet to comment
about the nobel money remark-
john hume's character was in danger with anti- peace elements when he took part in SINN FEIN talks but other leaders put there lives on the line for the peace process
thats some distinction.
